This was a hectic day for the Chappell Hill VFD.
At around 12:51 PM, the Chappell Hill VFD was dispatched to a structure fire in the 6800 block of Gibbs Creek Road. Bellville VFD and Salem VFD were also sent to the call for assistance, demonstrating the effective coordination among the VFDs. The call initially came out as a fully involved house fire with the main house on fire. Chappell Hill firefighters arrived on the scene and found a garage/apartment section of the house with heavy smoke coming from the eaves, windows, and the garage door. Chappell Hill firefighters deployed a line into the garage, quickly extinguished the fire, and prevented the fire from destroying the rest of the residence. Salem & Bellville VFDs assisted with manpower and water supply, showcasing the teamwork among the VFDs. No injuries were reported and everyone made it out okay. Firefighters cleared the scene around 4:27 PM.
At 9:16 PM, firefighters were dispatched to FM-1155 and Old Plantation Road for a vehicle fire. While responding, units were informed that the vehicle was off the roadway and the bed was on fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene and found one vehicle fully involved, quickly deployed a line, extinguished the vehicle fire, and performed an overhaul. No injuries were reported on the scene. Firefighters cleared the scene around 10:38 PM.
